Theme 2: Friendship / Music Preferences (Making Suggestions & Expressing Preferences)
Students will be able to make suggestions and state personal preferences using 'prefer' and 'would rather'. · Students will be able to give reasons for their choices using 'because', 'since', and 'as'. · Students will be able to write short communicative responses reflecting mutual support and trust in friendship.
- To express preference: 'prefer + noun / V-ing to noun / V-ing' (e.g. I prefer rock to jazz).
- With would rather: 'would rather + V1 than + V1' (e.g. I would rather listen to acoustic music than heavy metal).
- Giving reasons: 'because', 'since', and 'as' are followed by a full subject-verb clause.
- Making polite suggestions: 'Shall we ...?', 'Why don't we ...?', 'How about + V-ing ...?'.
