Bu hafta

1. 'Be Going To' vs. 'Will': Plans, Decisions and Predictions

İngilizcede gelecek zaman sorularını hatasız çözmenin anahtarı be going to ile will arasındaki iki temel farkı kavramaktır: A) Kararın Ne Zaman Verildiği Farkı: Eğer bir eylemi yapmaya konuşmadan daha önce karar verdiysek, hazırlık yaptıysak ve bu bizim niyetimizse (prior plan / intention) daima am/is/are going to + V₁ kullanırız: *“I have bought some paint. I am going to paint my room this weekend.”* (Boyayı önceden almış, planlı!). Buna karşılık daha önce hiç planlamadığımız bir şeye tam konuşma anında (on-the-spot / spontaneous decision) karar veriyorsak will (‘ll) + V₁ kullanırız: *“A: We have run out of milk! B: Really? I didn’t know. I will go and buy some from the market.”* Ayrıca söz verirken (I promise), yardım teklif ederken (I’ll carry your bag) ve tehdit/uyarıda bulunurken will tercih edilir.

B) Tahminin (Prediction) Dayanağı Farkı: Gelecekle ilgili bir tahmin yürütürken şu anda gözümüzle gördüğümüz somut bir kanıt veya belirti (present evidence) varsa be going to kullanılır: *“Watch out! You are going to drop those plates!”* veya *“The score is 4-0 in the 89th minute. Our team is going to win!”* Eğer ortada somut bir kanıt yoksa ve tahmin tamamen kişisel fikrimize, beklentimize veya hayalimize dayanıyorsa will / won’t kullanılır. Cümlede I think, I don’t think, I believe, I hope, I expect, I am sure, probably, maybe, perhaps ifadelerinden biri varsa hemen will + V₁ seçilmelidir: *“I think flying cars will be common in 2050.”*

THEME 2: PLANS — FUTURE TENSES (BE GOING TO, WILL & PRESENT CONTINUOUS)1. BE GOING TO vs. WILL (FUTURE FORMS)BE GOING TO + V₁ (am / is / are going to + V₁)1) Prior Plans & Intentions: “I am going to study medicine.”Predictions with Present Evidence (Somut Kanıt!)“Look at those black clouds! It is going to rain.” (Gözle görülür kanıt).WILL + V₁ (won’t + V₁) — Spontaneous Decisions1) Konuşma anında verilen kararlar: “The phone is ringing. I’ll answer it!”Predictions Based on Opinion (Kişisel Tahmin)think, believe, hope, expect, probably, maybe: “I think they will win.”Promises, Offers, Threats & Refusals (Will)“I promise I won’t tell anyone.” | “I will help you with your bag.”2. FIXED ARRANGEMENTS & FUTURE EXPRESSIONSPresent Continuous (am/is/are + V-ing) for FutureFixed personal arrangements (bilet alınmış, randevu/saat kesinleşmiş!).Example of Fixed Arrangement“We are flying to London at 09:00 tomorrow morning. Here are our tickets!”Present Simple for Timetables & SchedulesUçak, tren, sinema, ders saatleri: “The train leaves at 18:45.”Making Suggestions & Invitations for PlansShall we...? / Let’s + V₁ / Why don’t we...? / How about + V-ing?Future Time Expressions (Zaman Zarfları)tomorrow, next week/month/year, tonight, in two days, soon, in 2030.EXAM KEY: “I think / I hope / probably / maybe” -> WILL + V₁ | “Look! / Watch out! / Have already decided” -> BE GOING TO + V₁!Time Clauses (when, after, before, as soon as, until): Yan cümlecikte ASLA will kullanılmaz, Present Simple kullanılır!

2. Present Continuous for Arrangements, Timetables and Future Time Clauses

Yalnızca zihnimizdeki bir niyetten (be going to) öteye geçip başka insanlarla sözleştiğimiz, bilet aldığımız, otel rezervasyonu veya doktor randevusu yaptığımız kesinleşmiş yakın gelecek organizasyonlarını (fixed personal arrangements) anlatırken Present Continuous Tense (am/is/are + V-ing) kullanırız. Bu cümlelerde genellikle gelecek zaman zarfı (tonight, tomorrow morning, at 5 o’clock on Friday) belirtilir: *“We are having a meeting with the project team at 10 a.m. tomorrow.”* veya *“Cem is flying to Berlin next Monday; he bought his plane ticket yesterday.”* Eğer bahsettiğimiz olay kişisel bir organizasyon değil de uçak, tren, otobüs, sinema, konser veya okul ders programı gibi resmi bir zaman çizelgesi (timetable / schedule) ise gelecek için Present Simple Tense (V₁ / V-s) kullanılır: *“Hurry up! The film starts at 20:00 tonight.”*

Arkadaşlarımızla plan yaparken öneri ve davet kalıplarını sıkça kullanırız: Shall we + V₁...? (*Shall we go bowling?*), Let’s + V₁ (*Let’s study together*), Why don’t we/you + V₁...?, Would you like to + V₁...? ve How about / What about + V-ing...? (*How about watching a sci-fi movie?*). Son olarak, gelecek zaman cümlelerinde when, after, before, as soon as (यथा-er ...-mez), until (kadar) gibi zaman bağlaçlarının bulunduğu yan cümlecikte (time clause) anlam gelecek zaman olsa bile will veya be going to KULLANILMAZ; bağlaçlı yan cümlede Present Simple, ana cümlede ise will / be going to kullanılır: *“When Bora graduates from university, he is going to work abroad.”* (*When Bora will graduate* YANLIŞTIR!).

Kısaca

  • Be Going To + V₁ (am / is / are going to + V₁): İki temel durumda kullanılır: 1) Önceden karar verilmiş plan ve niyetler (prior plans/intentions), 2) İçinde bulunulan anda gözle görülür somut bir kanıta dayalı tahminler (*“Look at the dark clouds! It is going to rain.”*).

  • Present Continuous for Future (am / is / are + V-ing): Yeri, saati ve detayları önceden kesinleşmiş (bilet alınmış, randevu yapılmış) fixed arrangements (kesin organizasyonlar) için kullanılır (*“I am seeing the dentist at 14:00 tomorrow.”*).
  • Present Simple for Timetables: Uçak, tren, otobüs seferleri, sinema ve ders programları gibi resmi tarifeler (timetables/schedules) gelecekte gerçekleşecek olsa bile Present Simple ile ifade edilir (*“Our flight leaves at 07:30 tomorrow morning.”*).
  • Time Clauses (Zaman Bağlaçları Kuralı): When, after, before, as soon as, until bağlaçlarının bulunduğu yan cümlecikte gelecek anlamı olsa bile ASLA will veya be going to kullanılmaz, onun yerine Present Simple kullanılır (*“I will call you as soon as I arrive home.”*).
